Fishing in the Bristol Area

Fishing

Arrowheads and spearheads, found on the banks of Bristol Pond, mark where tribes of long ago gathered to fish and hunt.  Bristol Pond, now renamed Lake Winona, is at the base of Hogback Mountain, about three miles north of Bristol.  Boats can be launched here at a Vermont Fish & Game Service access.

The New Haven River holds a well-deserved reputation as one of Vermont's finest rivers for trout fishing.  The river starts in Lincoln and is a classic brook trout stream, while in the lower sections you will see mostly rainbow and brown trout.

For people desiring to fish on Monkton Pond, the Vermont Fish & Game access is located off Pond Road.  Bass and bullhead may be the "catch of the day".

Lewis Creek and Baldwin Pond in Starksboro offer superb fishing.  If you desire to fish on Lewis Creek, most of the fishing is done near the village area.

For rules and regulations, contact the Chamber.  The number is listed elsewhere in this publication.
